Happy Quinceanera!

So I will be attending my very first Quinceanera (a coming of age ceremony to be held on a girl's fifteenth birthday) in mid-August and couldn't wait to borrow my friend, Valeria's Quinceanera stamp set from the Celebrando Creatividad catalog. Wow, that was a mouthful! Anyway, I found out that her dress will be green, since that's her favorite color, and whipped out some Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper to use on my card.

But wait, there's more! I wanted her dress to sparkle so I painted on some Pixie Dust Blingz all over the dress AND the crown.

Is that not just super-fab?!?! Speaking of which, today is your last chance to enter to win free Shimmerz over on the Shimmerz blog!

Ok, I'm off to tuck my little ones and then then watch So You Think You Can Dance. Who will be leaving tonight?!!

Mmmmm Cupcakes!

Holy cow! Just looking at this gives me a sugar rush!! Taylor, over at the Taylored Expressions blog had a super cute sketch to do last Friday and I just KNEW I wanted to use her cupcakes in it. In order to make the icing look SUPER DUPER yummy, I had to top with Pink Shimmerz. :) Because, seriously, I could do with little cake and much icing!! :)))) I also put Crystal Effects on top of the Shimmerz because I just adore that combination. Here's a little close up of how shimmery shiny it is.

Almost blinding, I know!! LOL! This card also has quite a bit of dimension, so I thought I would include a side view for fun times.

I'm having some girlfriends over to stamp this evening, so I hope to actually accomplish something (aside from stuffing my face and gabbing). haha!

Oh yeah!! I had a reader request the instructions on how to make the card for my last post here., so here goes!

Base cardstock is Pretty in Pink cut at 9" x 4.5" and scored in half
Panels are whisper white base cut at 1 3/8" x 4 3/8" with Soft Suede atop at 1 1/4" x 4 3/8"
The Soft Suede pieces were run through my Backgrounds I large circle Texturz plate
The Pumpkin Pie scalloped circle was cut out using my Scallop Circle #2 die
The Whisper White circle was cut out using my Circle Scissors at ~ 3"
I stamped the greeting from Flight of the Butterfly in Soft Suede ink
The butterfly was cut out using the Butterflies die and using the Old Olive dp from the level 3 hostess kit
Ribbon used is Pumpkin Pie grosgrain and I used a large Orange rhinestone brad from the Fire Circles rhinestones.
I free-handed the stitched look on the border of the circle with my Old Olive marker

I hope this helps! :)

Hope your day is as happy as happy gets!

My goodness I've just about fallen off the face of the earth! Well, you can't get rid of my just yet. :) I began stamping this last Monday (when this MOJO Monday sketch came out) and I just finished it last night! I knew that I wanted to go with some funky colors...Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie. I found this combination in the catalog and really liked it! I'm not sure mine turned out as fab, but it's "AIGHT!"

This is another Stampin' Up! only card. What can I say? I'm getting into Convention mode and I'm super excited about seeing ways to use new goodies!

I hope to stamp more this week. Oh....and make swap cards :o

Thanks for stopping by and getting, "in stamping mode!" :)

Dust off that Orchid Opulence

How have you been neglected for so long, oh Orchid Opulence? Can anyone seriously remember the last time they've used you? It may have actually been some time in 2001, lol!

As soon as I saw the Cottage Wall dsp in the new catalog, I knew it was a must. When I read that Orchid Opulence was one of the colors used, I seriously thought to myself, "didn't that color retire ages ago?" How sad is that?! Well I'm glad it's made a comeback and I'm loving it on this card!! This has to be my most favorite one I've made in a long time! I used the latest Splitcoast sketch for inspiration.

Now I'm off to get ready for the day and *hopefully* take the kids to a water park. We will finally have some relief this weekend from the 100s and only hit the 90s!!! Wooooooot!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend and I look forward to seeing those who can make it to my Open House on Sunday. :D

The designer paper, stamp set, AND rub-ons are just divine! I'm also liking taking pictures of my cards on my messy desk, lol! What do you think? It's ok, or too distracting? hehe

This card follows the latest Mojo sketch seen here. I also wanted to use my new Sizzix die out of the Stampin' Up! catalog again because the box it makes is just too cute! Here it is to match the card. :)

A Shabby Princess Birthday

Happy Birthday Sophia!!!
Today will be a Princess day for all. My good friend, Valeria is holding a Princess themed birthday party for her most precious daughter, Sophia, who is turning 3! Catie, of course, will be in her best princess attire...(well, what mommy came up with on a whim). :) I wanted to make a card that incorporated a crown...fit for a princess of course! I also wanted pretty things like ribbon and flower and pearls. I tried adding buttons but it just became too much, lol! I also just HAD to use some of the Shimmerz Spritz in Mudpie. Shabby Chic has never sparkled soo much and I LOVE IT!! :) Here's a better image of the sparkle, and let me just tell you, the Mudpie Spritz was just perfect for that Shabby look.

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you have a WONDERFUL Friday!!

Clean and Simple with Circle Circus

Here's another Clean and Simple card and I used a new set called Circle Circus. After seeing some cards made with it, I just HAD to have it. This is just an all around great set and you can make quick cards that look great in a pinch! I expect I'll use this stamp set for my Convention swaps. :) Anyway, the color combo is one that I saw used recently on another blog and I just love the way these look together! The colors are Bordering Blue and Soft Suede.

That's it for me for now. Hope you are having a great week! I'll have a big post up tomorrow. :)

Mojo Friday with some Shimmerz!

There is a color of Shimmerz that I still haven't opened and I just LOVE the way this color looks!! Well...I guess it's kind of lack of color, lol. I painted Buttercream (YUM!!) Shimmerz on my flower and look how gorgeous it came out! The stamp set is from Verve and it's called Wishful Elegance.

I followed the latest Mojo Monday sketch for inspiration, and I gotta be honest, almost scrapped this whole project! I persisted with making it right and I think it's not all that bad! The dsp is from the Fleuriste collection from Cosmo Cricket (my first time getting my hands on Cosmo Cricket stuff!!) The cardstock is the new Soft Suede, which I really love. Ok, enough jibba jibba, onto the card!

Hope you have a great 4th of July weekend!!
