Another day...another SYTYCD!

Holy cow!! Has it really been that long since I last posted?? In all honesty, I had this card done a few days ago, but one of the little flowers got all jacked up, and since I borrowed the set, it took a bit for me to cut out another flower. Did I mention that cutting out all those little flowers is probably as fun as stabbing your eyes with needles?? Fun, huh? LOL!

Anyway, this card meets 2 challenges...Jen's Sketch for You to Try and the Raspberry Suite Color challenge.

For my colors I used Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, and Pink Passion. I used the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set that I've been drooling over forever. :) The teeny tiny pearl accents are Liquid Pearls in Opal...I just love that stuff! Don't you sometimes say to yourself..., "self, now why didn't *I* think of inventing that?" Anywho, thanks so much for stopping by! I'm off to stamp some more.

TGIF!!! It's a perfect day....

for margaritas!!!! AMIRITE?? :) I really didn't have much of an intent to stamp last night after watching SYTYCD, but Rosie made me do it!! She challenged me to use one of the kits she won from Archiver's (stickers and all) to make a card with no stamping. Now, who am I to pass up a challenge?? I tell you, these type of cards whip together mighty fast! The paper is from the Citronella kit, but I'm not sure who makes it....maybe Making Memories? Anywho, I used the latest Taylored Expressions sketch challenge for inspiration. The "a perfect day for" was a rub-on from Stampin' Up's rubons "A Perfect Day." I decided to fill in my own blank with MARGS!!!! *grin*

Thanks for stopping in and I hope you have a FABULOUS and SAFE Memorial day weekend!

So you think you can stamp!

I like to think I can stamp! LOL Tonight is the season premier of So You Think You Can Dance...henceforth dubbed SYTYCD. I {heart} this show soooo much!! I just can't wait for this evening! Any of you readers a die hard follower like me? If not, try it out! The dancing is just AMAZING!

So on to my card. It's another CAS style card from the Stamp Something challenge. The challenge was to stamp a CAS type Thank You card using Lauren's gallery for inspiration. I chose this lovely flower card she stamped here. And this is my take on it.

This card is all Stampin' Up!, with the exception of the tiny rhinestones I placed on the tips of the flower....the stamen? I can never remember the proper name for that! Anyway, I love how summery this card is! It's already so Africa hot over here in Texas...I almost broke a sweat just the few minutes I was outside to take this picture....and it wasn't even 11 AM yet!!!! Nevermind the fact that I sweat like a man...too much info, I KNOW!

Thanks for stopping in! :)

Clean and Simple Tuesday and new Shimmerz + GIVEAWAY TONIGHT!!!

Another Monday brings another Clean and Simple challenge...and I definitely like me some clean and simple! :) The challenge over on Splitcoast was to make your CAS card black, white, with a splash of a bold bright. I zipped out TWO cards!! WOOT!

This card uses an AWESOME new stamp set from H&M Stamps just perfect for that hunter/fisher/manly man in your life. :) It's a set called Just for Dad's and it's a perfect image builder set! I stamped the fishing pole directly onto the card and popped the fish up. The border and the fishing line were drawn by hand. Like my artistic contribution?? lol!

And finally...what I've been just dying to use is a new product by Shimmerz to be released TOMORROW!!! WOOOO!! It's called Shimmerz Spritz, and here's a little sample of how I used it.

See that the Shimmer is not only on the rose, but entirely over the image AND the cardstock?? View my full write-up and the full card over HERE!!!

And you have until TONIGHT to win your own Shimmerz Spritz!!! Be sure to read over on the Shimmerz blog the details. CLICKY!!!

Stamp something pink

Over on the Stamp Something blog, they have a challenge to stamp a pink birthday something! Well, I've been on quite the Saffron kick and just couldn't abandon that color, so why not add some pink to it?! I think it works. :) I've also had this little set from Archiver's that I've been dying to use because the little bugs are soooo cute. The set is called Futterfly Friends by Stampendous. And well, the bugs are just DYING (not literally!) to be sparkly. I decided to use my stash of Shimmerz colors AND pair it with colored Stickles. Effect = AWESOME!! Check it...

Cutest little bee I've ever seen!!! I've got to run and take my kiddo to Swim School, but I'll come back later this afternoon and list supplies as well as a pic of all the Shimmerz/Stickles I used.

I'll BEE back later...har har!! :)

PS. I used Taylored Expressions latest sketch challenge for inspiration!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Ok, I'm a day late and a dollar short, but did you all at least have a good one?? Whether you were being celebrated, or you celebrated yours, I hope it was a fantastic day! I had a good one...I spent pretty much all afternoon stamping. I had a list of challenges (holy cow there are a ton out there) that I wanted to tackle. I wanted to try out a new challenge from Dawn McVey, called the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. This is actually her fifth challenge and boy does that girl do some knock-down-drag-out beautiful work! I paired it with Jen's SFYTT sketch challenge....that girl does awesome work too!!

Anywho, this is what the two combined sketches merged into.

So the colors I used were Basic Grey, Regal Rose, and Pink Passion. Quite the combo, eh?! And remember those crappy stamps that gave me nothing but headache from Costco? Well, there is a flourish on it that I just LOVE. Of course, the image doesn't ever stamp nice and crisp, so I just went with it. I figured I would go with the imperfectness of the images and let it ride. Both of the images are stamped off because I felt the imperfection of the image looked better as a muted color instead of bold. Yeah, I'm not artistic at all, but just work with me on this!! LOL The greeting is from H&M Stamps Angelic Moments, and of course, that stamps just beautifully. :)

Oh yeah!! Notice the dry embossing on the regal rose piece?? That's a new folder from Quickkutz!! I can't wait to play with it more. heehee

Thanks for stopping in and getting, "in stamping mode!"

Mojo Challenge #85 and some news!

As a little Mother's Day treat, I got to spend the evening with some fantastic friends stamping over at Archiver's for Scrap Mania. Would you believe, that over the course of FIVE hours...all I completed was this card? Yeah, I just wanted to bash my brains in by the end there. A while back, I had bought a steal of a set of stamps over at Costco. I swear...those stamps cause me nothing but grief!!! I guess they are made with the most horrible clear...whatever they use, and won't take on any ink (unless it's chalk ink). FRUSTRATING!!! Anyone else know what to do with those kinds of stamps? They almost made it straight into the trash! I had to use a Hero Arts greeting because the greeting from the set looked like utter poo.

At any rate...I have some SUPER exciting news to share!!! I am a Guest Designer for Shimmerz!!! WOOOO!!! In honor of this momentous occasion, I used some Shimmerz on the butterflies and also right onto my card!! Here's a closer look...

Oooooh...aaaahhhh. :) Love that Shimmerz!!!

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend and a wonderful Mother's day (to all you moms out there!)

SC227

That's right folks! It's time for my weekly gratuitous Stampin' Up! only card! lol I pulled out a retired Pina Colada Simply Scrappin' kit for some fun summer colors and used Splitcoast's latest sketch challenge for layout. You know how the cover of the kits have some sample pages/cards on the front? Well one of the layouts had this awesome edge effect on the side using the notebook hole punch thingy over one of the scalloped border thingies (those long 12" sticker strips). Are you liking all of my technical terms here? Sorry, I have the music so loud on my computer, I can't even think straight...it's AWESOME! haha I just had to download that new song by Jamie Foxx (that he performed on American Idol) called "Blame It." Has a really good groovin' beat. :)

Anyway! I hope you enjoyed the card! I'm a little unsure of it, but hey...I got to stamp..WOOOO!!

Stamping Mode Supplies (all Stampin' Up!)

Paper: Pina Colada Simply Scrappin' dsp, Ski Slope dsp, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White

A Prehistoric Clean and Simple

Another Clean and Simple Monday over at Splitcoast, and I am finally able to play! I wanted to use another of H&M's new sets called Prehistoric Birthday cause it is just tooooo cute!

This was so quick and easy, it should be illegal! :) I took a piece of white cardstock as a base and covered one side with retired Ski Slope dsp. I then ran a piece of chocolate cardstock over the Top Note die and stamped and punched out those cute little guys with a 1" circle punch. I stamped the dinosaurs with Versamagic Tea Leaves and Jumbo Java ink.

Thanks so much for stopping in and getting, "in stamping mode." :)

H&M May Release!

Can you believe May is already here?? Do these months not seem like they are completely flying by you and you're moving in slow motion wondering..."what happened to 2008?!" Ok, maybe that's just me.

Well I am so excited for May to be here and that means another batch of new stamp sets from H&M Stamps!! I'm sooo thrilled with these sets and I can't wait to show you more projects in the upcoming days. I got to make a quick card using the new set, Seeds of Kindness. It is a gorgeous set of black-eyed susans with plenty of cute sentiments.

I followed the sketch challenge from Splitcoast as a layout. I wanted to use my new Layering Daisy punch from Martha, so I punched the flower, folded it in half and then used my embossing stylus to cause the petals to curl. I think they made cute little black-eyed susans!! I also wanted them to look sun-kissed, so I added some Mello Yellow Blingz from Shimmerz to them. :) Here's a close up of the shimmer.

I think this is such a great spring card! Plus, I got to use some of that Saffron dsp from the Sale a Bration paper that I have about 23489072389047239087 pieces of. SCORE!!

Stamping Mode Supplies
Stamps: Seeds of Kindness
Ink: So Saffron, Old Olive, Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, So Saffron, Delicate Dots dsp, Old Olive
Accessories: Backgrounds I Texturz plate, Little Leaves die, Layering daisy MS punch, Cuttlebug border embossing folder, Taylor's Twinkles (tiny black rhinestones on the flowers)

I thank you SOOO very much for stopping by and visiting!
