Mojo Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a relaxing (or productive!) weekend so far. I have so many things on my "to-do" list before Monday...which begins Teacher Appreciation Week here. So many fantastic things I'm envisioning doing to express my deep appreciation to those teachers at my son's school, Round Rock Christian Academy. It's been a bit of a challenge though as I'm feeling a bit....somber?? perplexed? maybe a little bit angry? More on that later....if you care to read about it. :)

In the mean time, I have two wonderful friends who are going to be celebrating their birthdays here in a couple of weeks and I wanted to go ahead and have their cards finished. I based my layout completely on the MOJO Monday sketch...which is also a contest! I also used a hodge podge of my beloved Verve Stamps....a little Bountiful Backgrounds on my tag, Thankful Accents behind my sentiment, and sentiment from Wishful Elegance. Paper is from the new Valentine paper pack from K & Company....so very pretty and versatile. One birthday celebration card down....one more to go.

I had also enlisted myself to make Gratitude cards for all those teachers who touch and enrich our children's lives on a daily basis. Six teachers...in addition to the kindergarten teacher, who I am sooo thankful for. Their job really is thankless...

I had a gift certificate to Papertrey from Christmas and couldn't wait to get my new stamps inky. I used the new Baby Button Bits and Signature Greetings on these cards and went with a Clean and Simple format. Did a little coloring and airbrushing with my Copics and whipped these little lovelies out.

I hope they'll like the cards. The children will be signing them for all their teachers...PE, Art, Music, Spanish, etc....
I really am so grateful.

***Read on with caution...the following is just me being human...airing frustrations...getting personal**

Friends....some stay with you forever, while some quickly come and go, but they all leave little imprints on your soul...whether it be good, bad or indifferent, it is a part of you. I know that not everyone is going to like me all the time...I'm comfortable with that. I had a friend...she was near and dear, but I recognized that the friendship could not continue. It wasn't healthy for both of us...we both moved on. Recently, I discovered that one of her little ones was in the hospital. He's sooo little...I sent a text message...just a sentiment that I said a prayer for him. The message was completely benign and with the best intention. But I soon discovered my sentiment of prayer was unwelcome...at least by a family member. Her message implied that only her true "FRIENDS" were praying for her son. Really??? How this has anything to do with a little one....I have no idea? How grossly spiteful. This coming from an a) adult who b)claims to be the epitome of spiritual. I'm in shock. I'm dumbfounded. I don't share this feeling at all nor will I ever. If you've never liked me...for whatever reason valid or not, if you send a prayer my way, for my children....I welcome it openly. I feel a little better. It feels good to type this out and share...I'm human, and this is me.

Melissa, these are beautiful! I am sorry to hear that your friend was so rude and hurtful. I know how hard it is to make friends as adults. We are all set in our ways. Every now and then you come across one great true friend. I have been in a simialr situation, not with ones child ill but, just someone who was a good friend and it just wasn't a healthy relationship. We too went our separate ways and she still to this day, is holding a grudge.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend spite your experience with your old friend.

Your card is so soft and beautiful! I love the colors and think you did an outstanding job with the sketch.

I'm sorry that your 'friend' reacted that way. I can't imagine why anyone would be upset to learn of another praying for their sick child {or for any reason, for that matter}. Know that God heard your prayer and He knows your heart, regardless of how hurtful or petty others are. I'm hopeful your 'friend' was just having a really bad day and overly stressed out and that one day she will realize the mistake she made in treating you that way.

blessings to you!

Melissa,

Your card is beautiful. I have a friend who is like that. We had a falling out, found out something happened to her son. Called her and picked up the relationship again, got her a job working with me. I quit and she hasn't spoke to me since. Go Figure, best intentions sometime get twisted around to their way of thinking. I just try to rise above that and be true to myself.

Oh, Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear about your *friend* and the unwelcomed prayer. In my opinion, prayer is welcome at any time! Just remember, no matter what, God heard your prayer and answered it - and he loves you more than anything or anyONE else!

You know, someday, she will find out who her TRUE friends really are...God knows you sent the prayer, and he will deliver it to the little one....

Hi, i just stumbled across your lovely blog and am in awe of your creations! They are each and every one of them stunningly beautiful!

As far as your "friend" goes rest easy with a light heart for God will accept your prayer with the intention it was meant. People are strange sometimes, try and make an excuse for her that she must be under a lot of stress with her child being ill, however you are the much better person.

Gosh, that was a bit heavy for the first comment on your blog *blush*
