With a cherry on top

Happy Monday on a holiday week!! This is a card that I made a while ago but never posted and what better time than the present?! I haven't had much time to stamp as my dad arrived in town to visit for the holidays. We've been having a ball while he is here and I have enjoyed spending lots of time just shopping with the two of us. I've always had fond memories of going shopping with my dad (primarily grocery!) and it's nice to do that once again.
I still have a few more things to get and then a marathon night of wrapping presents, LOL!

Are you ready for the big day on Friday? :)

Making this short and sweet but be on the lookout for something sweet next week after Christmas! :)

Thanks so much for stopping in on such a busy week and I hope that you and yours have a WONDERFUL Christmas!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 95

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge! It's the last Friday before Christmas...are you ready?! I know I'm not, lol! I'll be out there with the rest of the crazy procrastinators trying to scrounge up those last bit of gifts this weekend. Wish me luck!

Isn't that a great sketch?? Now, I'm sure that you are all finished with your shopping and have time to leisurely go about stamping, so why not show me what you can do with the sketch? Yes?? :)

Here's what I came up with!

This card uses a new Giving Tree set from Taylor called Discover Your Wings. I absolutely adore this set and the fact that $7 of the sales from it is going to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep is just the icing on the cake. What a fantastic organization! Be prepared to shed a few tears if you visit...it's just so touching yet wonderful what these people do.

Love that sugared butterfly! And you can't see it very well, but that large image of flowers was actually stamped in Sahara Sand ink on under the chipboard panel. I wanted to use as many beautiful images as possible. :)

Ready to see more inspiration? Be sure and check out what the rest of the Sketch Crew has come up with. I know it will be just beautiful!

Crepe paper fun

In my search for some inspiration online, I constantly stumbled upon these gorgeous cinched and glittered crepe paper rounds. I wanted to incorporate it into the latest MOJO challenge and this card was what was born! Now, I don't know if I used the right crepe paper (I just used a plain white streamer) but it worked in this case, lol! To make it, I first glittered one end of it and then made a running stitch down the opposite end. Pulled the thread through to cinch and then glued the ends together with a mini glue dot. Since my crepe paper was stark white, I sponged a bit of Antique Linen Distress Ink. So what do you think? Have a site with better directions? I'd love to see it!

Now for some really fun news....I am officially Copic Certified!!!! My good friend Valeria and I attended the certification class in San Antonio on Monday and boy was it fun!!! That Sally Lynn is a hoot and I hope I get to see her again some day. I came home downright exhausted, but it was a GREAT class with great company!

And get this....I also got to meet THE Sharon Harnist. I've been following her blog waay before I even discovered what Google Reader was, LOL! Yes, I would just visit her website every day to see if she updated.....I'm a noob, I know this!

Whew! What a whirlwind this month has been. I feel like I'm barely coming up for air half the time, but it's been fun! My dad is coming to visit for the holiday and arrives late this evening. I'm so excited! Have things been busy in your household? :) Since it's also my husband's birthday today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE!!!), my dad has been joking that his visit makes the best birthday gift ever, LOL! He's such a joker!

Anyway, thanks for visiting and I hope you're staying "above water" before the last minute holiday crunch!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 94

Greetings friends! Yahoo for another Friday and another sketch challenge! Can you believe how close we are getting to Christmas?? Aieeee, I still have shopping to do! I sense a last minute dash in my not-so-near-future, LOL!

So here it is...another fantastic sketch from Taylored Expressions that I hope you will be able to play in!

And here is my take on the sketch using no stamping!

So I didn't do any stamping on this card *gasp* but I did have some fun with rub-ons! I got some new Hambly rub-ons that I'd been dying to get my hands on and I was so nervous about messing up stamping inside it, that I decided to use a rub-on sentiment as well. I know, I'm weird, but I'm also a huge hoarder and afraid to ruin things that I covet, rofl!

Ok, now you should definitely go and check out what the rest of the sketch crew has done. And don't forget to stop by Taylor's Blog, where it all begins! Link up your creation there and please let me know if you played...I'd love to see what you came up with!

Clean and Simple and a tag

I get some new Verve goodies in the mail yesterday, and of course, had to play right away! I just love this release of Julee's...everything about it! So this week's CAS challenge over on Splitcoast was to use Brown, Red, and white/vanilla. Perfect for a Valentine's card, in my opinion!

I used the sets Thankful Accents and Thankful Hearts on this one. And I just noticed both of these sets are still on sale...SCORE!

I also had some time to take on another of Tim's tags. Here's my tag #3.

He showed how to make a cool plaid pattern on glossy cardstock. I didn't have access to the materials he used, so I just used my sponge dauber to make my own little plaid with white craft ink on kraft cardstock. I kind of went a bit monochromatic and I like it!

Ok, I need to move a little faster on tackling these tags, lol. Hope to get more stamping time in later. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Tim Holtz's Twelve Tags of Christmas

So I just discovered Tim's blog through my daily blurfing and all I can say is, "WOW!" Back on the 1st, he began his Twelve Tags of Christmas and you can see all of his how-to's and tags on his blog here. I decided to go ahead and give it a try and I thought I could keep up every day, but I'm already behind! LOL! Oh well, I at least have Day 1 and Day 2 completed. :)

Here are the tags I came up with:

TAG 1

Each day, he provides a step by step write up (with pics) on how he creates his tags. Man oh man, he has some pretty awesome products!!!! I actually went out and purchased a couple so I could kind of mimic how he used them. For this one, I used his crackle accents all over the tag.

That little bit of crochet on the card is actually from some really old crochet pieces that my mother-in-law handed down to me. There is literally a TON of old crochet doilies, etc that she had! I am going to frame a couple and hang them up in my daughter's room, use some as decor, and maybe scrap with them too. :)

TAG 2

Now this tag is SUO except for those buttons and twine. I used the Seasons of Joy set and clear embossed the background and then sponged celery and olive ink all over the top. The rest is pretty self explanatory. :)

And finally, this is not part of the tags, but this is a tag/ornament I created from a little wooden stocking ornament. All I did was cover it with fabric and embellish. :)

This was just so fun and cute! I just love how it turned out as a fun little project to do on the side. :)

A couple weeks back, I got nominated for an award by SUCH a fantastic person and SU demo. I am sure that you have seen her...her cards are always amazing and she ALWAYS is selected as a winner for the Raspberry Suite Challenge AND I just saw her card featured on the Cards Magazine blog!!! Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 93

Welcome back to the Friday Sketch challenge over at the Taylored Expressions blog!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and workweek. It's been extremely busy here (noticed by the lack of blog posts, lol) but I'm enjoying having my mom and Aunt in town while my mom begins the search for a home here. I'm really excited to have them here and we've been keeping busy all day! Ok, so on to the sketch!!

Looks like a fun one, eh?! I sure hope you can give it a try! Who knows? Maybe you will be selected as a Top Crop by Taylor herself!
So here is what I came up with.

And yes! I used Taylor's Wings of Joy set again!! I keep saying...there are soooo many cute images, I want to get to them all!! :) Plus this is only helping to increase my Christmas card stash.

I stamped out JOY and then colored them in with Copics and then cut them out individually and added little details to each!

I made this little bird's wing a little 3D simply by cutting along the wing with an Xacto knife and pulling it up a bit.

And the letter "O" got a felt snowflake and holly berry treatment.

And finally "Y" got the perfect little bow made with Baker's Twine.

Now, let's see what the rest of the sketch crew has done! I can't wait to see and I know it will be truly inspirational!

Clean and Simple Redo

You will probably recall a Clean and Simple card I made using Circle Circus here. Well, the challenge this week over on Splitcoast was to do a make-over on a former CAS card. Since I wanted to keep this card SUO, I just changed up the colors and kept everything else the same. I used a retired in-color Cool Caribbean...oh how I wish they'd bring this one and Soft Sky back! Oh, and I coupled that with Always Artichoke. Since I didn't have a ribbon to match, I just used the current In-Color Bermuda Bay. I think it worked swell!

Off-topic, just had to take a snapshot of Catie's happiness seeing the tree decorated by her big brother Harrison. Just love it! I *ALMOST* cried. :P

Uggh, seeing these pictures makes me want to cry. I'm not posting again till I get my Photoshop!! See you in a day, LOL! :)
