A Birthday Book Wish

Hmm...does this title even make sense? Well, maybe it will in a moment. You see, I have a very dear step-mom who is celebrating her birthday tomorrow. She LOVES to read...and I mean, she is curled up in a book every chance that she gets. So when Papertrey came out with a set for the booklover in your life, I just HAD to have it. :) They also released a bookmark die...and the wheels began a-turnin'!

Wanna see??

Oh my goodness, I just love it! All things shabby and pretty and feminine. Just like her! And the sentiment...absolute perfection, LOL! You see why I just couldn't pass it up?
And the matching card...oh yes...

I would LOVE to make more of these! I'm thinking about making some replicas and putting them in my Etsy shop...I haven't had anything in there for a while! Oh! And I was very mindful when creating the bookmarks, that they would be in a book...that's why the lack of heavy embellishments. :)

All the stamps are from Papertrey, except the Happy Birthday sentiment...from my favorite TE set, CreativiTEA.

Thanks so much for looking...and liking?? :)

Pretty Packaging

Ok, so at the very last minute, I decided to make some "little" gifts for my teammates that will be putting up with my crazy antics over at CHA. :) I decided to make necklaces...I know, I'm crazy. I cranked out 6 necklaces in one evening. Very vintage style, with mixed metals, rosary beads and pearls, and bling of course! And well...I just couldn't stop there. How about a pretty fabric flower to wear on the necklace? Yeah, let's throw that in there as well! And finally...I couldn't just throw it in a tin and call it done. I had a new set from Papertrey just ITCHING to be used and was just perfect for these gifts...so off I went!

I included some of my very favorite vintage trim in each tin. The buttons on the outside are all very old! I have a huge jar-full and this was just the perfect time to use them. :)

The charm for each necklace is different. And some of the ribbon on the necklaces are this pretty blue, while some are pinks and creams. I really hope that they enjoy them!

Yes....6 times of these!

Thanks for visiting!

Off to CHA!

Ok, I'm writing up one last post before I wake up in about 6 short hours to get ready to drive to the airport! I must admit, I'm a little bundle of nerves traveling. I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing all the new goodies at CHA though! I've been watching the sneaks on blogs that I follow and I'm already salivating! I'll try and take some pictures and post them when I get back, so I promise to share my absolute faves then. :)

Now onto my card! I was actually CPS's Facebook Friday Fan and my card was featured on their blog this past Friday! The sketch is already past, but they have a new one if you'd like to play along. They always have fun sketches and GORGEOUS samples.

I finally busted out some new Melissa Frances products that I'd been hoarding from my trip to the Making Memories Convention, lol. The bird image is from Crafty Secrets...also purchased from that same trip. :)

And I've got a nice little surprise for you while I'm gone! I will have TWO...count 'em...2 scheduled posts while I'm gone! I've been busy crafting before I take off (gifts for my teammates willing to put up with me at CHA and a birthday gift for a special mom.)

If I can, I'll try and edit my posts with updates from CHA...need to find an app for the Iphone to edit in blogger...any ideas with that?

Ok, I'm off! I hope you all have a wonderful week and I'll be back soon!

TESC122 - Be like a Flower

Happy Friday everyone! This week has just flown past, don't ya think?? And the countdown is on until the day I leave for CHA! Speaking of...I will be at the Taylored Expressions booth and I would love to meet you if you are there! I've never actually met anyone through my blog before (I've heard it can be done) LOL! Anyway, would be neato to meet some of the few people that actually read my blog...I know I'm looking forward to meeting the people whose blogs I follow!

Anyway, here is your AWESOME sketch for the week (you can definitely squeeze this in before you leave for CHA) :) If you aren't going to CHA... then surely you have time to play along! :)

And here is what I came up with.

For once, I didn't stray far from the sketch. And I actually REALLY like this card in person...just not how it photographed...such a bummer! Just take my word...it's a GREAT card in person, lol!

I used a combination of the Summertime Project Pantry kit and the Easter Key Ingredients from a while ago. The stamps are all from the gorgeous, Summer Afternoon. I stamped my main image in some new chalk ink from Colorbox called Wisteria. I am LOVING how these chalk inks look. The color is so very rich and the stamp gets nice and complete coverage. I need to invest in MORE of these!

I *may* have one last project to post before I leave...we shall see! In the mean time, let's check out what the rest of the Sketch Crew has to share with you, hmm?? :)

Have a WONDERFUL weekend and thanks sooo much for your visit. :)

Creative people are seldom tidy

My goodness, the subject says it ALL!! LOL! I've been wanting to use that phrase for a while now and it's about time I created a little something just for me....a little something to hang in my craft room...which is an organized disaster!

I created this for the Want2Scrap blog using the Heart Acrylic album. I just can't get enough of all the acrylic products! I think they are so fun to use and just make really unique projects...because you can see through them!

I used papers from GCD Studios that I'd been hoarding for a while. :) The statement (which I cut the words out from) is also from GCD Studios and it's a coordinating journaling card type thingy. :)

I tell ya...it's fun making something for yourself every now and then. :) Now, I have some GREAT tips over on the Want2Scrap blog, so be sure and check out my post over there! I show you, step by step, how to make an offset shape using the outline of your given shape. Basically, how I made my heart shape offset from the acrylic shape onto my patterned paper.

See you tomorrow with my project for the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge!

The Key to My Heart

Hey everyone! I know it's been a while, but after a brief hiatus (hi summer!), we are back to posting over at the Want 2 Scrap blog! I have a project up there with a little mini tutorial for ya. :) Here are some glimpses of what I've made...

And there are many more pictures over on the Want2Scrap blog, so go and check it out there for more details. :)

I used the Flower Power Acrylic album, heart chipboard, and some of their very cool bling strips!

I am gearing up to head to my very first CHA event and I'm excited as all get out! A little nervous about traveling, but I plan on enjoying every second there! My posts will probably be sporadic...if non-existant, lol! I'll be back though! I'll also have another Want2Scrap project to share with you on Thursday. Until then....

TESC 121 - Thinking of You

Happy Friday everyone!! I'm soooo glad it's Friday! This week has been full of activities with the kiddos and I have just been flat exhausted every day. Not to mention, it's been hot like Africa here.! We recently joined the "Y" and I've been taking the kids there to swim and play (while I work out) and they LOVE it! I see a lot more visits there in my future. :)

But you are here to see the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge, right?! Here's what Taylor has for you this week....

I turned the sketch on it's side and went from there...and boy did I GO! Not something I usually create....actually, was quite a bit awkward but I like it!

Now, remember how I said I had leftovers yesterday from my July Key Ingredients kit? I made something shabby with it! Yep, all the paper and ribbon are from the kit. My sentiment is from the set, Care & Comfort.

Now, I can't wait to check out what the rest of the crew has in store for you! Hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend and I thank you so much for your visit. :)

The July Key Ingredients

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share with you, a project I've been wanting to undertake for a while now. But first and foremost, this post is all about the July Key Ingredients, which is already in the mail to current subscribers!! Are you a subscriber? You should be! Before I go into all of the reasons you SHOULD subscribe, let me share some pictures of my project....you see, the challenge issued to subscribers for this month is to bling it up! Use glitter in any way possible on your project. Ok...here goes!

I added some glitter to my leaves....a little dusting of glitter behind the buttons.... wondering what I'm showing you here?

Say hello to my paper mache house!! Decorated completely from the July Key Ingredients (plus an item or two from the TE store.) :)

Whattaya think? :) GREAT kit, yes???! You see, this entire kit...cardstocks, patterned papers, glue pen, glitter, and ribbons are ALL included in your kit and mailed right to your door! Not a believer? Try out the 3 month subscription...it's only $25.95!!! Now, I know that these kits are GREAT for making cards and scrapbooking projects, but I just wanted to show you that you could indeed use it for your altered projects! I can't wait to pack some goodies inside the house and present it as a gift. And let me just tell you...the paper mache house is only $1.99 at Hobby Lobby! Oh, and I hardly even used half of my kit...I'll make a card later this month using the kit just to prove it! :) So yeah...cost of house $1.99...not even half the kit used to make the house...$10...cost of total project, $11.99. Pretty awesome for the price if you ask me!

You can read more about the Subscription service HERE...there are TONS more perks...like discounts at the TE store, etc!

And for all of you already subscribed, I can't wait to see your glitterfied projects uploaded to the Key Ingredients gallery here!

Thanks for looking and letting me share my home with you. :)

Don't forget to stop by these lovely lady's blogs to see what they have done with the kit... Charmaine, Karen, G., Jodi, Donna, and Taylor!

PS. Before I forget...today (July 15th) is the LAST DAY to sign up for the Taylored Expressions monthly blog hop!! The hop will take place on the 20th and don't forget...there is a free set up for grabs to a lucky participant! Read more about the details here!

Color Throwdown Challenge

Hey everyone! I don't know if you saw, but I just HAD to share.. the Color Throwdown blog is celebrating their 100th challenge with a BANG! I mean seriously...there are almost $1700 in prizes up for grabs just for making a project with their color challenge and leaving comments!! A chance at free product? Of course I had to play along! :) And I'm also excited to share that Taylored Expressions is also sponsoring a prize!

So the colors to be used are Regal Rose, Real Red, Certainly Celery, and Baja Breeze. I absolutely love these colors and was thrilled to see them in the Fly a Kite paper pack from October Afternoon. Off I went to work with Taylor's latest set, In the Park and was able to "throwdown" this little ensemble. :)

I also used the new background, Stitched Plaid, which looks soooo totally cool stamped! Click on the link to check it out...it's a nice 5.5" x 5.5" coverage!

So we had a really nice weekend! We attended our first Build a Bear birthday party for our little friend Sophia. The kids LOVED it! I actually liked it too and wanted a Hello Kitty bear all for myself, LOL! We then spent a fun evening out to dinner with the birthday girl and her family. Fabulous weekend with friends! Now I'm off to begin a great week! Hope yours will be as well. )

TESC 120 -

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week and enjoyed the sneaks and big release over at Taylored Expressions. I had a seriously enjoyable week! I got to have a total "me" day on Wednesday with my good and very dear friend, Valeria! We were totally childless, so we enjoyed an almost full day of Starbucks in the morning, Eclipse, lunch, and a bit of shopping over at Archivers. :) I can't rave enough about how nice it was! It was a very enjoyable break from the kiddos! Anywho, you are probably here to see the sketch for the week and peruse the samples, yes?? Here's the fun sketch for ya...

And here is my sample!

Just a little something quick that I threw together....after tossing TWO other sketch cards in the trash, that I had high hopes for, LOL! Don't ya hate it when that happens?? Oh yeah...just something quick to mention. See my butterfly on the flower there? It's actually 2 pieces of glimmer glass by Tattered Angels. I've been sitting on a box of these for a while, but it says that you can spritz these for added color. Yeah...I tried that. I knew what would happen too...so my question is...how the heck do you add color to these?! How are you using them? The spray just wiped right off (as expected.) I assume you need to use some kind of acrylic paint on them? Please leave me a comment with a photo or some ideas on how you've used them, if you have!

Thanks guys! Hope you have a GREAT weekend!

Oh! Don't forget to check out the samples from the rest of the sketch crew. We have a new member, who is no stranger to the TE Sketches! No stranger to me either. :)
Welcome Rosie to the team!

Taylored Expressions Final Sneak and Release

Hello everyone! I am back, yet again, to share THREE more projects with you today! As you read this, the TE store is open with all the new releases, so be sure and browse and place your order HERE. :)

I'm excited to share with you some new a la Carte Cuppies! I got the chance to select which two cities (of the four available) I wanted to work with, and I chose New York and Hollywood!! So, for my first project, I am going to share Destination Cuppie - New York!

Look how cute Cuppie looks with that beautiful skyline...snackin' on a hot dog...YUM!! I TOTALLY would be doing the same. And the sentiment is just perfect!

Now, let's travel clear across the country to sunny California and check out...Destination Cuppie - Hollywood!

Doesn't cuppie look like he totally fits in with the stars there? :) I couldn't resist using my Summertime Project Pantry kit to make this card. Such fun and bright colors and TOTALLY Hollywood, in my eyes. :)

And finally, the last set...so near and dear to me. The set is called Weigh to Go, and you guessed right, it's all about that battle of the bulge. I've actually been a loyal member of Weight Watchers for about 4 years now. I can, thankfully say, I have been a Lifetime member for over a year! I actually achieved my goal about 9 months after I initially started, and then promptly got pregnant and gained a good chunk back. :) I then went back to Weight Watchers when my daughter was only a month old and quickly reached goal yet again. So yep, I have MANY ideas for this set...one for sure is a journal to track my points! Anyway! I was able to make a clean and simple card for you...to share in my celebration of making and maintaining goal.

Isn't it great?! I know I only shared a couple of images with you, but this set has sooo much more to offer and I can't wait to play more with it. To get some more ideas, you should DEFINITELY check out what the rest of the Baker's Dozen has to share! I know I'm on my way there....

Happy Shopping and Hopping everyone! :)

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - In the Park

Hey everyone! So glad you are back here again. I hope you got a chance to hop around and see what the Baker's Dozen peeked for you yesterday. I saw them and my socks were literally knocked right off!! FABULOUS projects, I tell ya!

Well, we are back today with more to share. Once again, half of us are sneaking one set while the other half will be sneaking what I get to share with you today!! The set is called In the Park, and I LOVE IT!!! I love everything about this set and definitely see it as being another go-to set in the future. :) It also has a project pantry kit called, the Summertime Project Pantry kit. It features NEW paper from Echo Park, and oh. my. goodness...you are going to fall in LOVE with this paper!! Ack! This whole ensemble of stamps and kit made me just giddy with delight! So much so....I had to create a scrappin' project of sorts. I recently acquired an artists tray from 7Gypsies and felt this would be perfect to showcase the stamps, kit, AND pictures!

My pic in the daylight...

And some late night/early ones in my stamp room...

Oh I just love it, I can't stand it!! I used the kit here like you wouldn't believe! I also added some chipboard butterflies and flowers from the TE store for good measure. :) Oh! And the clouds were made from the Garden Party Blooms set.

Now, let's venture to the rest of the Baker's Dozens blogs, shall we? I can't wait for you to see what they have to share with you!
See you back here tomorrow for the last of the peeks AND Release day!!!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - Feelin' Groovy

Hello everyone!! I hope you all enjoyed a nice holiday weekend celebrating our Independence Day (those of you in the US.) :) I enjoyed a lovely weekend with family and got some stamping time in to prepare for the big release Taylor has in store for you this week! So let's just dive right in, shall we? :)

Since the release is another biggie, the Baker's Dozen will be split on what we're sneaking today...much like last month. You'll definitely want to see what we all have in store for you as, with half of us, you never know what you're going to see. *grin*

As for myself, I'll be sharing with you the groooooovy set, Feelin' Groovy! This set also comes with a super psychedelic, appropriately called, That 70s Project Pantry kit! Check it...

This set is soooo cute! I totally love the VW bug stamp! It reminds me of the days when you used to hit the person next to you any time you saw one on the road. Fun times! Of course, I just TOTALLY dated myself, but whatever! :) It gives me a warm fuzzy. And the patterned paper from the Project Pantry kit is just ADORABLE!!! I love all the cute colors, rainbows, peace symbols, etc! Just too cute! I couldn't do just one...I HAVE to show you one of the other stamps from the set!

You can't have a VW bug stamp with just a side view...the back end is JUST as cute! I paired the flowery patterned paper from the Project Pantry kit with the Basics White paper pad (on both cards actually!) I also handwrote "Mom" in the license plate...you could leave it blank, or put "dad" in there too!

Now, I can't dilly dally here any more...I'm antsy to see what the rest of the girls have cooked up for you...I KNOW they will be groooovy. :)

Oh! And did you see who our Guest Designer is for the next couple of months??? None other than Stacey Schafer herself!! I've been a longtime follower of her blog and she always does such amazing work! Can't wait to see her creations on release day!

Check back in tomorrow for more sneaks...we'll be all split up again, so you'll be in for a treat! :)

TESC 119 - Enjoy Life!

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe July is already here? I'm kind of perplexed as to where June went. Can't say I'm missing it though! I'm glad that the summer is chugging right along. It has been really busy though! Which brings me to the reason for the post today... a little something to keep you busy for a bit. :)

Here's Taylor's sketch for you this week.

And here's my take...a horizontal one!

I used the new fun, summery set just released last month, Hangin' Out - At the Beach. I also coupled it with the Udderly Sweet Project Pantry Kit...it's so fun to mix and match the kits! And I'm off to a busy weekend ahead of me! Taylor's release is next week and I'll be a busy bee working on all the projects for the week...you are going to LOVE the new sets!! :)

Have a great weekend, and don't forget to see the inspiration from the rest of the crew!
