TESC 106 - Blessings

Hi everyone! You know it's Friday, right? I'm doing the happy dance! I have a fun night of crafting with my pals planned for the evening...probably one of the last for a looong time. :( Oh well, I have lots planned and I'm looking forward to creating. :) I'll just relish the moment while I'm in it.

So remember a while back when there was a CONTEST with Taylor's Sketch Challenge?? Well....it's time to do it again people!!! You never know when Taylor will have a contest, so be sure and check her blog every Friday for it! So here's the deal....you create a project based on this sketch

Make sure to submit it to Mr. Linky back over on the Taylored Expressions blog by April 2. We will select our top favorite submissions and YOU could win a FREE STAMP SET from the Taylored Expressions store! The winners will be announced on April 5.

Taylored Expressions stamps are not required for the challenge...but if you got 'em, why not use 'em?! :)

I used mine here!

Remember how I said I would use Easter Blessings in a non-Easter way? Well here it is!! I'm kind of patting myself on the back here, lol! I used some new goodies now available in the store...Cosmo Cricket Material Girl papers, Maya Road Butterflies mini Chipboard, and I used that new Maya resist on my chipboard....AWESOME!!! Absolutely LOVE this stuff! I put it randomly on my chipboard and let it cure. Then I colored my chipboard with acrylic paint. Let that dry and then peeled off the Maya resist. The result? Aged looking chipboard! Click on the picture so you can better see it. :) Taylor keeps getting REALLY cool stuff in her store...I think the girl is reading my mind! Be sure and check it out HERE.

And don't forget to stop by the rest of the Sketch Crew blogs to see what they came up with! I always love seeing what everyone else has done!

Alrighty...I'm off. I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend! And thanks so much for visiting...big *HUGS* all around!

a memory a day

Before I get started, if you have visited me today via the Taylored Expressions newsletter, then welcome!! I'm so glad you are coming to see me for the first time! And for the rest of you....welcome back!!

I wanted to share with you a little labor of love I've been slowly working on. You see, I don't scrapbook (unfortunately), I'm just pretty horrible at it...my friends can attest to that! I want to be able to do it successfully though, and I think a mini-book is a great way to start. So I've had this little chipboard book that I picked up at the Michael's dollar spot laying around for....a WHILE now. Now is a better time than any! I grabbed all of the things that I looove...all those papers you don't want to cut into, embellishments that sit and collect dust, vintage trim, twill, bling, ribbon...you know, don't we all hoard these things? :) And then I got to creating....

The rose....straight from a grab bag of vintage goodies at a local antique store...it's still gorgeous. The sentiment was perfect for my book. Right from my favorite set Discover Your Wings. This is a book of days...I'll record the date and write down anything memorable for the day and keep it in this book to go back and relish one day.

Monday....

New Shabby Chic paper and chipboard from Prima I've been sitting on for a bit...LOVE this...LOVE Shabby. :) The flower from a craft store and pin leaves in turquoise and brown with sparkled butterflies, all atop a shimmered stained doily....a great way to start a Monday.

Tuesday...

Papers from the Girl's Paperie, sugared chipboard, buttons, Prima flowers, pink chenille, yummy trim, rhinestones, and vintage seam binding (more on that later). Oh Tuesday, you are welcome!

Wednesday....

Melissa Frances paper found on clearance at Archiver's....can you believe it?! Paired this with a fun sentiment from GCD Homespun collection with more craft store flowers and even more seam binding. I love you hump day!

Thursday...

Ahhh Thursdays....I just love them! Almost the weekend, but not quite! Paper from the Flutter collection from Making Memories...little flowers die cut from Tim Holtz's latest flower die using vintage sheet music...yum! More turquoise pins (I've been using these a lot!) And the CUTEST pom pom trim from Maya Road.

Now, have I bored you with enough pictures for the day? Only a few days left....the funnest ones of all! Want to see those in another post? :)

Also! I wanted to share my little find at an antique shop a few weeks ago....

See the price on it?? Yep...that's exactly what I was charged for it! $.15 a piece for all 5! I also got some GREAT ledger paper and an old medical journal...all for a grand total of $2.44. I've been seeing crinkled seam binding a lot lately....I made my own. :)

Ok, seriously now, no more pictures!! I appreciate you hanging in there with me for this monster of a post. Next project....another mini-book.....with PICTURES!!! :)

PS....One more picture? I've begun playing with my husband's camera....the Rebel, and this is one of many I took yesterday on an overcast day. Hopefully, better pictures in my future with it. :)

See you tomorrow with my sketch challenge post...and a surprise! ;)

Mojo 131 He is Risen!

Howdy everyone! Sorry for the bit of a disappearance. I spent a fun weekend wrapping up Spring Break with the fam and then I got back to "work" on creating on Sunday night. I have been working up something good and I can't wait to show you here in a couple of days. Really...something I made using everything I HOARD love. :) In the meantime, I made this little number that I also LOVE! I used Taylor's new set Easter Blessings....so many beautiful images, but I wanted to create an Easter card specifically for Harrison's teacher. My next goal is to use those other gorgeous images for something non-Easter. :) I also used the Easter Key Ingredients....who does not adore that Kioshi paper??? And the ribbon I used...YUM!!! It was also in the Key Ingredients, and I'm not sure what it is...silk maybe?? but I am in severe infatuation with it!

So here's a bit of what I did, since it might be a little hard to tell in the picture. :) The cross and sentiment were embossed with Silver embossing powder, while the panels with the patterned paper were muted by layering some Vellum paper on top of it. My little "faux stitching" was done with a silver Zig paint pen.....remember when we just HAD to have these....like 5 years ago? I was shocked mine still worked!

So I'm off to diligently create again....see you back here on Thursday! :)

And thanks soooo very much for getting, "in stamping mode!"

I'm turning 1! Acrylic page

Hey everyone!! This is going to be a quickie...I have, literally, one foot out the door taking my son to a party! It's been gorgeous all week, but freezing today for the first day of Spring...whaaat?! Oh well, glad the birthday party is at an indoor place. :)

This is my latest creation for the Want2Scrap blog!

I have a little tutorial over at the Want2Scrap blog, so click on over there to see it! :)

Have a great day!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 105

Good morning everyone!! I know I say this every time but....HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! It's been Spring Break over here in Texas and we've been enjoying the time at home. My husband (who is arguably the best in the world), took this week off work to spend time together. Awww...I know! Isn't that sweet??? The weather has been beautiful and this just couldn't be a better family week!

So enough of that mushy talk! Here is the sketch for this week!

And now, let me just warn you. This is soooo not me. This is just me waaaay out of the box. I wanted something really rockin'...really black...and maybe a little bit goth? LOL! I know, very strange, but I think it works!! Some of you may not "feel it," as one of my girlfriends so aptly put, but that's ok, LOL! At least there's a lesson to be learned here....don't do something you aren't comfortable doing! :)

The heart and wings are actually from that super adorable set of Taylor's, Beary Special. Can you believe it?! I always see hearts with wings and a rockin' theme, and Beary Special had both the cool looking heart AND the wings...SCORE! I paired that with the sentiment from You're My Hero (which is out of stock, but be sure and click "request re-stock notice" to be notified when it's back in stock.) I also used the paper from the Rock Star Key Ingredients...which IS still in stock!

So what's the verdict? I'd love to hear it...bad, good, or indifferent!

Now let's check out with the rest of the Sketch Crew has come up with!

The March Key Ingredients

Hey everyone! Myself and some of the Baker's Dozen are with you today to share our March Key Ingredient Challenge projects. The monthly Key Ingredients is a monthly kit club, that delivers to you, the latest coordinating products for your papercrafting needs. And let me tell you, the kit for this month DELIVERS!! This month's is probably my most favorite yet! You see, Taylor hand picks the hottest paper packs out there and then selects cardstocks AND embellishments to match...taking out all the hard work (and shopping) for you! AND it's delivered right to your door each month! You can read more about the Subscription details HERE. Oh! And if you subscribe, there are MANY perks (discounts, challenges, storage) solely for subscribers.

So this month, Taylor has challenged us and you subscribers to create a card or project that includes texture inspired by the outdoors. And this is why I love this month's kit sooo much...

Gorgeous butterflies!! I love these butterflies so much! They are just gorgeous and the earth toned double-sided paper is just luscious too! And you know what? These papers and embellishments are EXCLUSIVE to subscribers ONLY!! Want to know something else really cool that I love about the kit....?? I can make at least 16 cards with it!

Here is the full card.

I was overly inspired by the outdoors (because the weather here has just been gorgeous), so I brought the outdoors to my card! I wanted to mimic the flowers that are emerging from the trees around here and the butterflies leisurely flying by. :) I picked up a twig straight from my backyard Oak tree and added a little color with some olive pigment ink. I then punched out some small flowers with a piece of the patterned paper from the kit and created clusters of flowers. The centers were embellished with Platinum Stickles (another MUST HAVE in your arsenal of embellies) :) My sentiment fit perfectly from the set, Favorite Peeps...my current go-to set! And for a bit more texture, I added some burlap and sewed my patterned paper right to it...worked perfectly!

And now I'm super anxious to see what the rest of us have come up with. Come and join me in checking out these blogs....

Another Friday evening project

Me again!! Here I go with another piece of jewelry to wear...and this one's a BIG ONE! I actually wear quite a bit of black over brown (what can I say....it's a thinning color and I need all the help I can get!) so I wanted something to wear matchy matchy. Here's what 3 hours of work netted me..

Hard to imagine what it looks like on, so this is a picture directly from the instructions I followed :)

Their photography is much better! Plus, I think it's pretty convenient to have a dress form with a neck...which I don't happen to have lying around, imagine that! :)

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend making this necklace...it could have probably been finished in about 1.5 hours, but it was 3 hours of almost an entire headache! The glass beads had to be attached with flat head pins and every time I would turn the pin, the glass would break! UGGH!! AND THEN...attaching each chain to that large enhancer gave me HUGE problems. Ok, I'll just stop there...probably too much information!

Gorgeous necklace...yes. Will I ever do one like this again....?? NO! haha! Have a great weekend!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 104

Happy Friday, yay!!! Here goes another Friday and another sketch challenge for you. I do hope you will play along. :) Here's what we've got....

Now, it took a lot to not make that center piece a Texas flag, LOL! That was the first thing I thought of when I saw it...being a Texan and all. :) Anywho, I broke free from that urge and came up with this instead!

Something spring and fun! I do hope you like it. :) I wanted to use Favorite Peeps again and make a "spring" card from it instead of Easter. I love those cute little flowers. I stamped them and colored them in with my Copics, cut them out and popped up those little petals. That gorgeous paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety mini deck...which Taylor has in the store! Fun sketch, eeeeh?? Please leave me a comment if you play along! I'd love to see what you created. :)

Now let's check out what the rest of the Sketch Crew has to share!

PS. I received a lot of questions (and compliments!) regarding the necklace I made last week. The instructions and supply list can be found on the Michael's site HERE. Enjoy ladies!! I'm thinking I may make another one tonight myself. :)

You're One Sweet Chick

I just think that sentiment is the cutest ever! And these little chicks are just as sweet as can be. I haven't done a Splitcoast challenge in forever and now is as good a time as any! My card layout is based off the latest Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #271 and I used the set from Taylor's latest release, Favorite Peeps. Such a cute and VERSATILE set! I really love the ability to use a set beyond a specific holiday, don't you? :) All the papers and embellishments are from the Easter key Ingredients...which includes that new Basic Grey Kioshi collection....YUM!

My little chicks were colored in with Copics using YG0000, Y15, and Y35. I airbrushed some Bg10 for the sky.

Yesterday, the hubby and I celebrated our 9th anniversary of marriage together. I still look at him with so much adoration. I'm such a lucky girl! This weekend we will really celebrate by having a date night together...so looking forward to that!

Be back tomorrow with the TE Friday sketch! Have a great day friends! :)

The Girls Paperie and THE Canvas Album

Hey everyone! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I'm in the midst of fighting a cold and I'm bound and determined to win. I've been in such a great mood though....road tripping it to Waco with my buds AND attending Lisa Pace's class was just BEYOND AWESOME! I don't think I've wiped the smile off my face yet...sometimes quality girl time is just what the body and mind need. :) Needless to say, all this positive energy is keeping me well, energetic, and driving a huge force to create! Let me first say that I've just been dying to get my hands on the new line of papers/stamps/embellishments by Margie and the Girls' Paperie. Ever since I saw the sneak of it at CHA I've been waiting and waiting.....and waiting. I actually have a nice laundry list of things I am STILL waiting for...but that's another story. :) Anywho, the scrapbook store in Waco (which I now ADORE) had her line!!! ACK!! I scooped up the last Paper Girl stamp set on the shelf...OH YES I DID, and grabbed every piece of paper I could get my hands on! There were QUITE a few things that my friends and I grabbed the last of....that makes me smile, LOL! Some Maya Road, Jenni Bowlin, Melissa Frances and other goodies somehow made their way into my bag...HOW'D THAT HAPPEN?! So I got to creating...lookie

My color inspiration came from Melissa Phillip's blog HERE and the sketch layout I was inspired by is the latest Sketch For You to Try with Jen. I am just in LOVE with this Paper Girl stamp set. I grabbed the sentiment from the Verve set Thankful Hearts. The paper on the right (which nearly made me shed a tear to cut) is from the Girls' Paperie and the one on the left is from the Crafty Secrets paper pad. LOL, do you ever do that? You just love a piece of paper or embellishment so much you don't want to use it! There should be a 12-step hoarder's anonymous program. :)

So back to Saturday....such a memorable day. The ladies at our table were so enjoyable to create with...I hope to run into them again maybe at another class. :) Lisa Pace is absolutely AMAZING. I mean, I was already enamored by her gorgeous work, but wow...what an amazing lady. So kind, patient, generous...and did I mention how gorgeous her work is? LOL! She signed my book...I look at it for inspiration all the time!

Anyway, I didn't finish my book in class, but I did finish it on Sunday afternoon. Here's the cover

I changed it up just a little bit from what she designed, but it's still pretty much the same. We also got to embellish the 2 canvas envelopes inside.

I apologize for the long post, but I guess I'm just chatty Cathy with all this excitement. :) Not to mention there are MANY more events coming up that I am tentatively planning on going to...classes, conventions, retreats....all in the Texas area. Interested in going?? I would love to meet you! Email me and I'll send you a list of all the events I'm planning on attending....all through to the month of September!

Ok, I guess I'll wrap it up for now. :) Thanks so much for hanging in there with me. OH! And thank you all for your comments about my first jewelry endeavor!! I'm so excited you guys have liked it too! I bought materials to make a NEW necklace. :) Look for that soonish....

She makes jewelry

I can say that now!! My Friday night project was to make a necklace....I've been seeing all these gorgeous vintage and repurposed necklaces, that I've been dying to make one. I've been especially fond of the ones that incorporate fabric and flowers! I hunkered down and made this in about 1.5 hours. Oh, and let me just say...I've never made a piece of jewelry before... EVER!

I can't take too much credit...I did follow directions from the Michael's website. :) I figure, I've got to learn somehow!

I am definitely in love with it and I can't wait to wear it...probably today. :) I'm looking forward to my next necklace project...definitely more fabric...and more...bling!

What do you think? Is this something you would wear? I'd love to hear your feedback!

(Sorry this post isn't stamping related, but I figure all you crafty folk still appreciate something handmade! :) )

Off to class in Waco!

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 103

Good morning everyone and TGIF!!!! Oh Friday I love you...thank you for bringing me the weekend on your heels. :) Let's just dive right into the sketch for the week, shall we?

Fun sketch, huh?! I certainly had a BLAST with this one. I really wanted to have some fun with it and I wanted to try out a bunch of new goodies I had gotten. First off, I wanted to use another of the freebie digital images with a Taylored Expressions order for this Anniversary weekend. Second off, the image matched my new Making Memories Flutter By paper pack to a tee!!! And finally, I wanted something bright and cheery because I am ready for warmer weather!! Ready for some fun and bright?? Grab your shades my friends, here it comes!

The butterfly that is popped up is part of the freebie digital images you can get with any order placed at Taylored Expressions for the Anniversary weekend. Isn't she gorgeous?? I printed on cardstock and then colored in with my Copics. I did a little embellishing with rhinestones and glitter too. :)

So any fun plans for the weekend? I am SOOOO EXCITED for Saturday morning! Myself and my best buds are heading to Waco for a class taught by THE Lisa Pace!!! Tooooo excited! We will be making the Canvas Sampler you can see over on her blog HERE. I bought her book a few weeks back and I use it for inspiration CONSTANTLY. I've even modeled a couple cards from hers. :) Can't wait! I'll be sure and post a pic of my final product later!

For now though, let's check out what the rest of the sketch crew has for you!

Thank you soooo much for stopping in. I really do appreciate your visit *HUGS*

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - Easter Blessings & Favorite Peeps

Hi everyone and I thank you soooo very much for coming back to see Day 2 of the sneak peeks for the big release this Friday, March 5 at 8 AM PST! Can you believe that Easter is already right around the corner?? I'm always on the lookout for cute little class giftables and teacher gifts for all of the upcoming holidays and may as well get started now, right?!

I am actually sneaking TWO sets for you today! The first one is called Easter Blessings, and this is a gorgeous religious Easter set with beautiful verses and elegant crosses and images. This set is actually versatile enough to be used beyond Easter! The second set is called Favorite Peeps and this set is sooo stinkin' adorable with the cutest little Easter images you've seen PLUS an Egg nestabilities friendly egg image!!! Hmm....does that make sense? lol

I have a lot to show you, so I'll just go ahead and start with the entire ensemble and then break it down one by one. :)

I'll first start with my little Egg treat "basket." This is the nesatbilitie friendly egg image that you can stamp multiple times and simply use your die to cut...YEAH!

I simply stamped 2 of the eggs and colored them in with my copics and then adhered to a small box. I filled with Easter grass and some robin eggs for a cute little treat!

I used my new favorite colored microbeads in the center of the flowers and my LOVE of Stardust Stickles on the edges. Oh! And the ribbon is from the Easter Key Ingredients....which I looooooove!! Here's how it looked unassembled.

My next project was a little matching card using the same set, Favorite Peeps.

How cute is that Easter basket filled with yummy eggs?! And those little flowers....oh yeah, in the Easter Key Ingredients!!

And finally, my last card using Easter Blessings.

Oh I just looove this card!! Remember that Letterpress technique I did a while back with the Tulip stencil here? Well, I couldn't resist getting the Diamond and Stars Impressabilities and pairing that with some new chalk inks Taylor picked up for the store...Pink Pastel Colorbox Chalk. I inked up my stencil with the chalk ink and ran it through my die cutting machine and the end result was EXACTLY what I had hoped for! This was actually the first thing I did when I made this card and after I completed that step, I just stared at it in adoration for a good hour before I could figure out how to add to the card without taking away from the background too, LOL! I think I did a decent job! :)

Thanks sooo much for hanging in there with me for so long! Make sure and check out what the rest of the team has come up for you...I've seen some of the sneaks and I am in AWE!!! You'll definitely want to hop around! Be sure to hop back here tomorrow for the last of the sneaks though!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peek - You're My Hero

Wooohoo!!! What a way to start a blog posting! I'm just so excited that we're coming up on another Taylored Expressions release! Today, I've got a ROCKIN' sneak for you that I think you're just gonna love! Let me first say some very important words about this set though!

This set is the latest set in the Taylored Expressions Giving Tree Program. Now, if you aren't familiar with how this works, let me give a quick explanation! Each quarter, a stamp set is created with a certain charity in mind and partial proceeds from the sale of the set are sent directly to the charity! I just LOOOOVE this! Taylor always picks such wonderful charities to donate to and this quarter's is no exception. You're My Hero is such set and it was created with tweens and teens in mind...and for all of us rockers too! (I know I LOVE to get my groove on to Guitar Hero, LOL) This set was created in honor of Darrin Zimmerman, Taylor's 10 yr old neighbor that passed away from cancer last fall and $7 from the sale of each set sold will be going to CureSearch. From CureSearch's website, "CureSearch unites the world's largest childhood cancer research organization, the Children's Oncology Group, and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation through their mission to cure childhood cancer. Research is the key to the cure."

I absolutely hate childhood cancer....and surely you know someone, or know of someone that has been affected by it. I so hope that you will consider this in the purchase of the set! This set will need to be trimmed, but it is still that good ole' deeply etched rubber on EZ mount.

Ok, how about some sneaks for now? I need to see some pretty pictures before the tears start flowin'!

This is my boy rocker card and it uses the set (with soooooo many fun images) as well as the Rock Star Key Ingredients. I'm telling you, I LOVE how Taylor always pairs a set with such GREAT papers and embellishments....thanks for taking half the work out of the card!

And you can't have a boy rocker without a......... girl rocker!

Just in case you're wondering...YES! I used the SAME Rock Star Key Ingredients here! Cool how you can make them useful for both genders, yes?? :)

Ok, I made a quick little Clean and Simple card as well...just a little something to sneak one more image. :)

My sentiment is inside and I'll keep it under wraps so you can see the full set when you order Friday morning at 8 PST! :)

Let's go and check out what the rest of the Baker's Dozen has sneaked peeked for you! Oh yeah, did you see there are two new members to the Baker's Dozen??? I'm THRILLED to have them join the team, yet also sad to see two of us leave. Check out Taylor's post here and welcome them!
