Mojo Challenge #84

It's that time again! Another mojo challenge and the need for me to do a Stampin' Up! only card. I honestly start feeling a bit guilty if I don't do at least one of these a week. It's like I'm cheating on Stampin' Up! or something...silly, I know! lol Anyway, I did thoroughly enjoy making this card. Probably mostly in part because I did about 75% of it at my friend Rosie's house using all of her supplies. *grin* It's always fun to stamp in good company and even a bigger bonus if said company provides all the supplies! WOOOO!

After seeing the cover of the latest Stampin' Success magazine, I just knew I wanted to use purple. Such a neglected color, right? So I grabber her Tea Party dsp and paired it with Perfect Plum... a color not in the actual dsp, but looks great with it anyway! Like that matching envie? :)

Ok, I'm off to tuck the kiddos into bed and then watch who will become the top 4 on Idol. Any bets as to who's leaving tonight? :)

Kwerner's 50th Color Challenge!

And let me tell you...girlfriend is celebrating the 50th challenge BIG!!! I adore her color challenges, but haven't had a chance recently to play. On 2nd thought...I haven't had a chance to do much stamping at all lately!! *sigh* Anywho, this color challenge was a doozy. I was almost to the point of slapping the ink pads to my forehead and then rolling it over cardstock. LOL! So here are the colors.


Pretty, I know! Getting them to look pretty on paper....MAJOR mental block for me. I finally came up with a clean and simple style using Inque Boutique's French Quarter stamp set that I just HAD to have months ago.


All five colors are represented...no more, no less! And my latest commitment is to make matching envelopes. I'm on a quest to sell my cards, and I think a matching envelope just makes the card more "polished." Yes?? Want to buy?? YES!! :) Feel free to email me or leave a comment and we can work this sale out! LOL!

I stamped the the circular flourishes with chocolate chip craft ink on chocolate chip cardstock and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I wanted just a hint of color on the chocolate, so I placed the tiny turquoise rhinestones (Amuse microdots) on each of the flower ends. I then used my Lots of Tags die from Stampin' Up on whisper white cardstock and then stamped the matching flower with both Real Red and Summer Sun marker. I added a large yellow rhinestone to the center of the flowers. I adhered the tag onto Tempting Turquoise cardstock and then cut out the border "free-handed" style.

Awesome Mojo Sketch!

I totally can't believe I didn't post this sooner, but my mother's day card here won the color challenge over at Color Throwdown! I was sooo super excited to see that it won...just made my month! You see that shimmer coming off your computer? Yeah, that's me still gloating about it. lol!

Anyway, I missed an absolutely FANTABULOUS mojo sketch a couple weeks ago, and after I saw Rosie's card, I just HAD to make one like it! I just love this sketch!!! Huge props to Miss Julie and her mojoliscious blog! Thanks for the inspiration girly!


Love it? OH YES I DO!!! The little flower was even hand-made! I totally copied that from a card on Splitcoast by Lesa Rapp. Stinkin' cute her card is, eh?! And how perfect does that flower from the H&M Stamp set, Petals of Friendship go with the designer paper? Loooove it (said in an opera-type voice).

It's a Beautiful Day to Stamp

Ever seen Grey's Anatomy (one of my most favoritest show EVA!!!)?? Well, Patrick Dempsey plays McDreamy, who is a neurosurgeon, and prior to every surgery, he gloves up and then says proudly before he cuts into the brain, "it's a beautiful day to save lives." What a great saying! I think from now on I will "glove up" stand there with my hands in the air and proclaim, "It's a Beautiful Day to Stamp," before each creation session. How cool will I look, eh?! My husband will think I look a fool, but whateva! :)

I haven't had much time to stamp lately, but I DID indulge on Saturday and do a 12 hour crop. Did I do any scrapbooking at all....no?! I always feel a twinge of guilt while I'm there because I've pretty much done nothing for my children's scrapbooks! I mean, this is why I got into stamping/crafting anyway, right? Anyway, all I did was make cards and I loved it! I wanted to participate in the latest Weekend Sketch Challenge over at Lori Craig's blog. Here's what I came up with.


How cute is that dog?!?! Thanks to all you enablers out there *cough* I purchased a few stamps from Whipper Snapper Designs. This one is called Sorry Pup. Are you wondering why I would ever need a card to send that says, "I'm Sorry?" Sometimes I can just spew verbal diarrhea from my mouth without even thinking and...yeah, insert foot in mouth. I mean, I haven't done it lately, but surely we all do it! LOL Now I'm prepared with the perfect card. tehee!

H&M Stamps April Blog Hop!!

It's that time again! Spring is in the air and that brings us a quickly approaching appreciation for our mother's AND weddings!!! With that said, the theme of this hop are Mother's Day and Wedding created projects using the latest release of stamps that you can view over at H&M Stamps. If you have come to my site directly, make sure to hop on over to the beginning at Carolina's blog!

So I decided to go with the wedding theme, and make a cute little wedding planner! Now, this box is completely CASEd from Jackie Topa's that you can download here. Her's is called the Stationary box and I just adapted it to make it more wedding themed. :) Without further ado, here we gooooo!


Here's the outside. I kept it simple with wide satin ribbon and a heart charm.

And the inside with the lid off.




The top area of the box fits A2 cards (thank you cards, or cards received, etc) and the slot right below it could be used to store receipts, business cards, or the like. The lower panel has a small notebook for jotting down notes, a holder for a pen, and the small little box to the right can hold stamps, a to do list, or whatever your heart desires!

Here are a couple close-ups for detail. :)


And the wedding dress. I colored with Prismacolors and odorless mineral spirits for blending. I also added liquid pearls for the necklace and earrings and Stardust Stickles accents on her dress and veil.


I hope you liked it!! One of my husband's co-workers is getting married this summer and I may just gift this over (she may have to tear it from my fingers though.) LOL!

Splitcoast Color and Sketch Challenge

This one's going to be short and sweet! I have an allergy-induced headache and it's just killing me!!! (Thanks oak!) Anyway, I wanted to make a Stampin' Up! only card following the latest sketch and color challenge on Splitcoast. The colors to use were Bashful Blue, Close to Cocoa, and So Saffron. Clean and Simple #9

Another Monday, another Clean and Simple challenge! This week we were to make a card showcasing distressing. So I had 3 goals in mind...complete the challenge, use the colors from KWerner's color challenge, and use another of the flowers from H&M's stamp set Petals of Friendship. I did it...SCOOOORE! :)



I just love these colors! You ready for a blue flower??


Blue, good? Yes? I'm diggin' it! It felt gooood to watercolor, I haven't done it in so long. I think I watercolored about 5 different flowers and I enjoyed every single second. It's like therapy in a little aquapainter. Therapy for a whopping value of $16.95 in the Idea Book & Catalog. :)

A Mother's weekend sketch color challenge

There was one more stamp set that I hadn't had a chance to play with from the latest release from H&M Stamps...but trust me, I've been itching! So I got up this morning (more like mid-morning), prepared lunch for the family, and then holed myself up in my stamp room and stamped. I was even still in my PJs....SCOOOOORE!!! hah! So I inked up Debbie Corbari's gorgeous flower set called Petals of Friendship. I also wanted to knock out a couple of challenges. One is the weekend sketch challenge seen here and the other is the Color Throwdown seen here.


Don't let this card trick you, it is actually GINORMOUS!! I cut a piece of cardstock 8 1/2 x 8 1/2" and then folded in half. I don't think they make envelopes this big, LOL! Oh well, it's just going to have to get mailed with a package then, right? :) So the flower is pretty glittery and, of course, the picture just can't capture it! I put dazzling diamonds on the outer white edges and a Prima rhinestone sticker thingy in the middle. I also tried accentuating the fine swirls by running a Clear Sakura glaze pen over them. You might be able to see it better if you click on the following picture. :)
